On the last day of the trip, the team visited Santiniketan, the place famous for Ashrama established by poet Rabindranath Tagore, and the Visva Bharati university, met with the faculty members from Fine Arts and Art History. The team also interacted about IP rights and relationship of traditional artists and fine art students with a group of students who were participating in a Chau mask making workshop. The team walked around the entire campus including the Murals by great masters like Nandalal Bose, Binod behari Mukhopadhay, Somnath hore, K G Subramanium and outdoor sculptures by Ramkinkar Baiz and other heritage structure like ‘Black House’ and its mud mural which is the local Santali tradition of designing house wall. They also came to know the tradition of open air classes under the trees.
They spent one and half hours in Museum to understand the legacy of Rabindranath Tagore and his works at Santiniketan, and acknowledge the concept of UNESCO in the context of Heritage and folk Art, that Tagore initiated through his different programs on social reforms, creating village festival, developing the traditional art community etc.
